When a family books an infant photo session with me I tell them to expect me to stay anywhere from 1-4 hours. Babies, especially really new babies, normally sleep through the entire shoot, but they also might need to eat, burp, cry, poop, etc. which can pause the photos. However, if you are willing, like Jennifer was, for me to continue to shoot during the not-so-posed times you can end up with some amazing photographs.
During my shoot with little Lucas he needed a snack, so I asked Jennifer if she wanted some breast feeding shots, but she declined and went into the other room to feed. About 5 minutes later she called me in and said she'd changed her mind. So we started chatting about the joys and pains of breast feeding and I kept on shooting. It was such a special time for me, to get to know her better and to capture a time in her and Lucas' life that may not last that long.
I'm writing this b/c I want to encourage you to be open to sharing these tiny moments. I'm a mom of two, almost three, and there's nothing I haven't seen or experienced in the life of a new Momma. So if you are willing, let me in to capture these tender and fleeting moments, I promise you won't regret it.
Thanks for allowing me to share this moment in time with you Jennifer. These photos are so truly beautiful they are some of my favorite from our time together.
